Okay, we decided to wax lyrical about the magnificent Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze! It’s out on the Nintendo Switch from 4th May, 2018, so a chance to catch up with this forgotten classic, eh? It’s over on the fantabulous Well Red Mage (which has just had a lush makeover, it’s true)!

The commercial failure of this Retro Studios masterpiece has sparked much debate since the news that it’ll get a new lease of life on the Nintendo Switch. The much loved series had a revival with Donkey Kong Country Returns on the Wii after a decade long absence, but the follow-up has a had wonky journey despite being, arguably, the best of the lot.

  1. I own it and loved it! The 3rd boss kept kicking my ass, and then I put it down and forgot about it… But I do plan to give it another go someday. I mean, it has David Wise music!! 😀

  2. So you are the renowned the Moronic Cheese Mage! I’m so behind, I actually played the old one, at the arcade, with an old bf who took me to arcades. You know, Donkey Kong, Missile Command, Frogger and Pinball!!!

    • Aw that’s cute, all those awesome retro games. There’s an interesting documentary called the King of Kong about the battle for Donkey Kong supremacy. Quite a fun one. It’s a bloody tough game, too, but fun.
