After our recent beans on toast extravaganza, and coverage of The Who Sell Out and its beans friendly album, we got to thinking of music. And beans.
So, we’re taking a look at great hit singles improved by adding a certain tinned vegetable with a tomato-based sauce! Hurrah!
I Have Always Loved Beans
Whitney Houston has always loved them. Always. And that’s a great commitment from the crooner woman, one worthy of the
I Wanna Dance With Some Beans
Whitney Houston again, this time needing to make some shapes with the tinned vegetable goodness we all know and love.
Nothing Compares 2 Beans
What was it with female singers and baked beans in the ’80s and ’90s!? This time out, Sinéad O’Connor was very clear about what nothing compares to. Good on her.
Billie Beans
Michael Jackson’s smash hit was all about the seeds from leguminous plants. Good.
Beans It
Someone once said to Michael Jackson a better title was Beat It. But Jackson simply punched them in the face. Allegedly! Anyway, that’s how this classic track came to be.
Bobeansmian Rhapsody
Epic from Queen with opera, guitar solos, and baked beans. It doesn’t get any better than that.
Crazy Little Thing Called Beans
More Queen, this time with another hit single that laid out the band’s stance on beans from a tin. “Crazy” may seem harsh, but they are a bit mad when you think about it.
I Can’t Get No Beans
The Rolling Stones were always too baked on drugs and, in this instance, it affected their chances of getting some baked beans.
Smells Like Beans Spirit
Nirvana was also in dire straits over the smell of everyone’s favourite tinned foodstuff and how it lifts one’s spirit.
Sweet Beans O’Mine
Guns N’ Roses. Nothing else to add here. Oh, except it’s more like Guns N’ Beans here, are we right!? Yes, we are!
Beans Over Troubled Water
Do note, using baked beans to traverse a stretch of water isn’t a good idea. A bridge would be more useful.
Every Bean You Take
The Police’s hit about a woman stealing Sting’s baked beans, making him increasingly angry.
You’ve Lost That Beans Feeling
The Righteous Brothers here taking note of that awful moment when you lose the baked beans feeling. It’s always a bad time of it.
Dancing in the Beans
Martha Reeves and the Vandellas with this popular little number. Dancing in foodstuff isn’t illegal so, if you wish, you can go ahead and partake in this activity.
River Deep Beans High
Ike and Tina Turner now and they’ve got the idea that beans are pretty high up. This is incorrect. Baked beans are small.
MMMBeans
Hanson’s very annoying pop song is more beany then you remember.
Can’t Get You Out of My Beans
Kylie Minogue appears to struggle with stuff getting stuck in her beans on toast meals. Nasty.
I Want to Hold Your Beans
The Beatles, being working class northerners, took every available opportunity to get their hands on more than one bean.
Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Beans
Written when The Beatles were out of it on LSD, this quirky little number still managed to stay grounded in comfort food goodness.
All You Need is Beans
John Lennon was so convinced about the power of British comfort foods, he penned a world famous ditty about it.
Whole Lotta Beans
Led Zeppelin also liked beans a great big deal and once they became a successful band could afford many, many beans! That’s what this song is about. Bean success.
Can’t Help Falling in Beans
Elvis sure did love his beans! And that was never more obvious than his candid acknowledgment that he habit of falling over into them.
And finally…
My Beans Will Go On
Celine Dion’s smash hit from the film Titanic, this little number reminded everything that even a swanky ship can have working class foods on it.
I wonder how long it will be until they make that Bobeansmian Rhapsody movie. There’s potential in there.

The only thing holding the production back is the staggering costs of tonnes of baked beans. It’s a disgrace!

It sucks when the forces of capitalism get in the way of high art.

I love beans too. I always wondered why the songs you’ve listed are so often piped in over supermarket sound systems. Very tricky marketing these days.
But wait, beans don’t belong on toast.

It’s not beans, but legend has it that the original words to the Beatles “Yesterday” revolved around scrambled eggs. https://www.futilitycloset.com/2005/10/11/original-lyrics-for-yesterday/

I’m pretty sure 99% of Beatles songs came about due to British comfort foods. I did a butter pie post yesterday and McCartney mentioned it in his song Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey. The truth is out there!
