From indie developer Tour De Pizza, here we have… Pizza Tower! This great fun, utterly bonkers platformer takes its influences far and wide.
You’ve got dollops of Sonic and Wario Land Game Boy titles here, sprinkled with cheese, and baked in a pre-heated oven for 20 minutes. And it’s all glorious! This game may be nuts, but it’s impossible to resist.
Total Platforming Carnage in The Excellent Pizza Tower
So yes, this thing is available on Steam. It launched in January 2023 and despite its critical acclaim, we only heard about it recently.
You star as Peppino Spaghetti, who’s a crazed looking balding chef.
He’s on a mission to destroy the Pizza Tower to save his restaurant from destruction. And so into the tower doth he go, with a huge assortment of special moves. Seriously, it’s amazing how many different moves he has on one controller Tour De Pizza really packed in a lot there!
The combination of things you can do can send the guy all over the screen. You kind of need to get your timing right as Pizza Tower is a challenging game. Check it out, yo!
There you go, then. See? It’s mad! Frantic carnage is the name of the game as you get around the 20 stages.
Remember The Ren & Stimpy Show? There’s a definite vibe of that throughout this crazy game. The madcap humour matches the berserk pace of the stages.
It’s great fun! Really, just utter madness but it’s a highly rewarding platformer and one that wears its Wario Land inspirations very well indeed. Love those games? This is most definitely for you!
You get about five hours of gameplay for your money here, which is about right. The concept doesn’t wear itself out thanks to that.
It’s very pick-up-and-play sort of action.
There’s a fun soundtrack to go with proceedings. This was the work of Ronan “Mr. Sauceman” de Castel and ClascyJitto.
Yes, that adds a lot of fun to the gameplay as well. It’s all very silly and we love it!
Pizza Tower is certainly a weird game but we enjoyed it a great deal. If madcap pizza type action is what you’re looking for, then this retro styled delight is well worth baking in the oven until crispy and delicious.

Burger Time will always be my first love, but this sound like a solid entry in the food-themed adventure genre

Burger Time is legendary. Pizza Tower always knocks it out of the park. More food games, please!
