Here’s a unique and fun puzzle game by indie developer Poti Poti Studio (staff in Barcelona and Brussels). Is This Seat Taken? is a matchmaker game where you have to get individuals the exact type of seating position they want.
It launched in August 2025 on PC, mobile, and Nintendo Switch. And it’s another one of those clever indie game concepts that may sound ridiculous, but offers a lot of charm and fun into the bargain.
Getting Comfy for Is This Seat Taken?
If you think of the awesome time of it that is Unpacking (2021), which was a surprise indie game hit, there’s no surprise titles like this keep rolling out.
Is This Seat Taken? has around two hours of gameplay. It’s short but sweet, sure, and may start to get a little repetitive after a while. And yet the charm offensive is also full on, with its eye-catching appearance and ease-of-use.
Yes, then, you have scenarios such as the bus, cinema, music events etc. And you must arrange the assortments of shapes to match their personality type. For example:
- Prefers a seat window
- Wants to be alone
- Wants to sit with a parent
- Doesn’t like bad smells
The whole thing is just pick-up-and-play personified, with the difficulty of getting the fussy in-game shapes seated growing in difficulty as you progress. Here it is in action.
It’s a very accessible game. Even if you’ve not played a video game in the last 30 years, you’d be able to get to grips with it pronto. It’s gesture based and just about dragging and dropping to match personality types.
If organisation is your thing, then Is This Seat Taken? will slake your desires.
The thing is ideal on any system, really, but get this on the Switch and you have touch controls, which is a great little addition. But the main element of the experience is its simplicity. This’ll either be a draw or a hindrance to some gamers, deponing on what you want, as at no point does this move into more advanced territory.
Thus, if you want a title that’s a breeze to play, helps you unwind and relax, and is rather charming too, then it’s well worth your consideration.

No game ever reminded me of taking the law school entrance exam’s horrible logic game section than when I played the demo. It’s like a more fun, less stressful version of that. I might look out for it during the next big sale.

Hmmm that’s interesting, this game is like a law school entrance exam? Logic tests are something I’m not very good at lolz, but I did do quite well at this game so maybe I should go into the world of Bob Loblaw etc. (Arrested Development reference)

I loved that bit, yeah. Don’t know if I’d advise becoming a lawyer, though. Almost ten years in the profession and I want the hell out! And of course, they removed that section a few years after I took it.

I work in employment law, but not as an employment lawyer. But yeah, seems a stressful job! Hope any future career plans work out, sir.
