We’re not usually so lazy we throw other people’s work at you, our disloyal readers, but we saw this and it combined two of our favourite things most excellently: a brilliant film and a great gaming era.
Yes! Shawshank Redemption got mashed up into an 8 bit NES era game by CineFix, a collection of talented folk on YouTube dedicated to films. It’s clever, showcases pedantic attention to detail, has a sense of humour, and we just love it. Super!
8 Bit Shawshank Redemption
Shawshank Redemption, of course, is a cinema classic from 1994. It helped popularise Morgan Freeman as The Man With The Voice, and introduced phrases such as, “Get busy living, or get busy dying”. This, of course, can be paraphrased handily. Behold:
“Get busy baking cake, or get busy not baking cake”, “Get busy using the toilet, or get busy fouling your trousers”, “Get busy brushing your teeth, or get busy enduring numerous hours of agonising dentistry work”. You get the idea.
8 Bit Cinema
Gloriously, CineFix even made a Spirited Away (of Studio Ghibli fame) edition. Which, you know, is glorious. So, when you have some spare time, go and have a gander at both. It’s the weekend, after all.
