Okay, this is a topical topic of a tropical podcast right now as everyone is ranting about AI tools such as ChatGPT. We’ve even used it for some of our content (see The Adventures of Celine Dion).
But… what it does it means?!
What does it mean for the future of everything? For blogging, careers, working life, and above all else… THE FUTURE OF MANKIND (but not womankind, women are safe).
AI and What it Means for Business Stuff, Careers, and Creativity
NB: My podcast platform merged with Spotify now this has messed up the integration with WordPress (cheers for that, guys). So that’s why you need to click the tiny podcast button below instead of getting better functionality like before. 👇
OMG. Artificial intelligence, eh? It’s been around for a long time. Think of characters in a video game such as Bethesda’s Skyrim.
It’s AI coding that makes them do their thing in the gaming world. They’ll have a set batch of instructions to follow, like saying, “I used to be an adventurer like you…”
But with ChatGPT, Google Bard, and many others, it’s all about predictive text (essentially). You type in a prompt, within 30 seconds it’ll write you a short piece about something. You can use it to write:
- Short stories
- Guidance for search engine optimisation
- Song lyrics
- Haiku
- Moving poetry prose
- Basic feature articles
This makes it a very handy tool for content writers and copywriters right now. Even journalists will find it handy as a initial starting point.
And we’re certainly going to do a brief course into AI tools like this to understand how they can help our creative process. For now, that’s what the tools are good for. They won’t be stealing anyone’s jobs… just yet.
To note, good old Answers With Joe has addressed the issue this week, too, and did a much better research job than us here (*ahem*).
Truth is, we don’t know what’s about to happen with all of this. In a year we’ll look back and do another podcast as an update, as this could all be flash in the pan nonense.
Or, just maybe, we’re all about to become obsolete.
So, yeah, what do you think? Are we all doomed? Is society going to be overrun with robot overlords before this decade is out?
Are you looking forward to reading Shakespeare Bot 2.0’s latest masterpiece tragedy? Or will Caravaggio Bot 4.0 move you to tears with its artistic majesty?

I’m mildly confused by people asking about human obsolescence because it implies there’s a point to anything in the first place.

Good old nihilism, that’s what that is!
But I think it’s most noble to get out there and create stuff. AI has assisted me on a few occasions so far, so I’m treating it like an irritating colleague who you dislike but have to tolerate.
