Little Kitty, Big City: Cute Cat Romp With Meow Button πŸˆβ€β¬›πŸ™οΈ

Little Kitty, Big City the indie game with a cat

Cats in video games are a must and we’ve seen the likes of neo-noir classic Stray (2022) and other malarkey. And now we have Little Kitty, Big City (it just launched on PC and consoles).

This is by indie team Double Dagger Studio in Seattle is an adventure game with a smattering of other genres, too. It’s good fun! Cute and cheerful, not overly demanding, and it’s got a dedicated meow button!

Meow Your Way Through Life in Little Kitty, Big City

This thing launched in May 2024 and is on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox (no doubt the PS5 soon enough, too).

Players take control of a black cat.

Living in a large Japanese city, the cat becomes lost one day and most work out how to return to its owners comfy flat. Exploration commences with puzzles solving and whatnot.

And there’s a big chunk of the jerk creature genre here.

It was the amusing Untitled Goose Game (2019) that triggered off this trend of jerk games. Whilst we weren’t quite as enamoured with that one as everyone else was, with this cat-based romp we’ve got more to purr about.

You can knock items off ledges, make people fall over, and steal their phones.

Alongside that kind of thing you interact with other local animals. These dudes set you tasks to complete, which often turn into collectathons and fetch quests. It all plays out like this.

So, yes, this is a sweet natured game that packs in just under three hours of gameplay time. It isn’t a challenging game, really, it’s more about the instant appeal of getting to control a cat.

Then head off into a city and do cat stuff:

  • Meow
  • Be a bit of an adorable jerk
  • Steal stuff
  • Meow some more

Little Kitty, Big City has met with pretty solid reviews from the gaming press. Gamers seem to love it, too, with a Very Positive feedback rating on Steam.

If you’re a cat lover (which the sane sect of the human world will be), then here you’ve got a must play for sure. Behold the sycophantic cat gushing!

Although this isn’t on the level of the outstanding Stray, there’s still a lot of fun to be had here for all ages. It’s relaxing, there’s snappy writing, and you GET TO BE A CAT for crying out loud.

And you get to find little hats for the little cat to wear!!

And that’s so adorable it almost makes us want to barf.

On the downside, the control system can be a bit iffy. The controls in general, but especially jumping, just feel a little… off. Add into that the excessive amount of collectible/fetch missions and it can get a bit repetitive.

But! The city is a great place to explore, the casual pace is a welcome escapist retreat, and did we mention you’re a cat? Indeed.

If it appeals, you’ll want to play it. Do so. It’s fun.
