The Playdate handheld’s capacity for casual weirdness never stops. As seen with this April 2026 release Office Chair Curling by indie dev osuika.
It’s on Playdate and got a Steam launch, too, and in this one you hurl chairs at a target. Like that game curling people only care about whenever the Olympics happens. Indeed.
Throwing Office Furniture is Fun in Office Chair Curling
We might well be office chair hurling geniuses as we took to this game with instant skill. Pretty much got a bullseye on our third ever throw. Hell yeah!
It’s very accessible and straightforward in this one. For Office Chair Curling, you use the Playdate handheld’s crank system to whip the chair around you at tremendous speed. You then let go, the chair goes barnstorming off into the direction you’ve picked, and you have to get it somewhere near the central target further down the office.
Simple, fun, and it gets you straight into the action (internet access also means you compete for high scores with other global players). Behold!
As you can see, it’s a daft game. A mild distraction, yet it does turn into quite the competitive experience. It’s not really a single player game, the big draw is the level of competition. The 1-on-1 matches where you’re pushing to beat the other player.
However, it is a short game. The file download size for Playdate is 60MB, tiny compared to many other indie games. It’s a pick-up-and-play deal, one that can get a little repetitive.
That’s what the Playdate is all about, though, those short sharp little games with a memorable concept that players will keep returning to every now and then. Think of the ridiculousness of Touch Egg and you’ve kind of got it.
Office Chair Curling has an absurdist concept that’ll draw a specific audience in, then keep you there for a brief while as you explore its curious mechanics. At a couple of quid, it delivers on its promise.
You will never look at office chairs the same way again…
