A bit of a long-form book review today with Octavia Butler’s disconcerting Bloodchild. This short story contemplates male impregnation on a different planet, with an alien species known as the Tlic residing over humans as the dominant species. It’s a chilling, but thoughtful, work.
I read this disturbing science fiction masterpiece in 2006 and itโs stuck with me over the years. Itโs a highly effective, bloodcurdling, thoughtful piece of writing from one of sci-fiโs most talented female writers โ Octavia Butler (1947-2006).
