Minishoot Adventures: Marvellous Bullet Hell Exploration Romp 🔫

Minishoot Adventures

One of 2024’s surprise indie game marvels, Minishoot Adventures is by SoulGame Studio in France. It’s a two-man dev team headed by Argl and Kuho.

It’s only out on PC right now and is a bullet hell wonder with added action-adventure elements.

Fast-paced but inquisitive and charming, we swooned for this one immediately and have no surprise gamers and the gaming press have very positive things to mouth off about. Let’s shoot this one good!

Explore and Get Trigger Happy in Minishoot Adventures

In the fabulous way indie games have, here’s another genre skewed on its head in creative fashion. Think of the all-time classic Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past (1992) on the SNES… MORPHED into a bullet hell extravaganza.

You’ve got that here in Minishoot Adventures.

Other bullet hell games include Enter the Gungeon (2016), a classic in its own right. SoulGame Studio has added another hit to the genre, as Minishoot is instantly accessible and has extra bells and whistles to go with it.

Players take control of an agile spaceship, one charged by a mothership to defeat the corrupted enemies of the land.

Into this lush, cartoony world you go and twin-stick shoot your way to glory! There are Metroidvania type powerups to pick up along the way, plus RPG elements where you upgrade your ship (shooting speed, firing power etc.).

It’s fast-paced and instantly rewarding (if bloody difficult), meaning you’ll learn the ropes in minutes and be exploring and blasting very happily indeed. Here’s more of that in action.

You get around seven hours of gameplay here. And it does exactly when it needs to (and then some). It’s addictive, great fun, and mighty charming.

As with shooter games like this, it can a little repetitive at times endlessly blasting stuff. However, the devs avoid that becoming too dull by mixing things up with the action-adventure elements.

There’s a lot crammed into Minishoot Adventures and the exploration is wonderful—it just has that exceptional flow to things. We remember marvelling at Nintendo’s genius when playing A Link to the Past and this little indie game isn’t too far behind that. Now, there’s some compliements!

It looks great, too. Plus, there’s a nifty score, which the devs Argl and Kuho created themselves. Fine stuff indeed and it’s all very catchy with the shooty action.

There’s not much else to add, which we mean in a great sense. This is a fantastic game and if you like the look of it… get it! As a glorious mishmash of genres, it’s a highly accomplished achievement.
